Some house wives in Ikole-Ekiti, in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti state have expressed delight over the crash in the price of palm-oil in the area.

They expressed their feeling in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) on Thursday at Ikole-Ekiti.

Mrs Titilayo Oloruntoba and Mrs Nike Agbaje noted that the price of palm oil pegged at between N 20,000 and N 22,000 per 20 litres December, 2016 and January, 2017 had crashed to N10, 000.

“I am happy that I can now go to the market to buy palm oil cheaper because it is readily available and affordable.

“Palm oil is used in our day-to-day cooking, but this commodity was scarce and costly three months ago.Now, you can buy five litres of palm oil between N2, 000 and N2, 500,”Mrs Oloruntoba said,

Mrs Abaje said: “This is a welcome development and I hope the trend continues with other food items”.

Mrs Aina Kehinde, a palm oil retailer at the “Oja-Oba” market in Ikole-Ekiti also noted that the price of the commodity had’’ reasonably’’ dropped, adding, however, that the commodity was usually cheaper during dry season, compared to rainy season.

A civil servant and house wife, Mrs Deborah Oluwalana, said that many families now enjoyed delicious food cooked with enough palm oil unlike dews months ago.

She, however, expressed concern that prices of other items such as rice, garri and beans remained high but optimistic that prices of other soup ingredients would crash any moment from now.
