Africa Nature investment (ANI) in partnership with Australia High commission has powered 63 house holds with Solar  at Mayo Selbe community in Gashaka local government area of Taraba state.

ANI, In continuation of its objective to transform and empower communities around the Gashaka Gumti National Park,  has commissioned an off-grid electrification project in Mayo Selbe town one of the communities around the Gashaka end of Gashaka _ Gumti National Park.

In his address at the commissioning of the project ,the conservator General of the National Park service,  .Dr.Ibrshim Goni said the project was a milestone achieved by Africa Nature investor foundation on community empowerment.

Presented by Assistant Controller-General,  of National Park O.C Oladipo, the conservator General, commended  Africa Nature investor for its support and empowering communities around the Gashaka_ Gumti National Park.

He said support provided the communities has enabled the communities especially the women group to embark on various economic activities.

The controller General however urged the Mayo Selbe community to utilize the electricity provided to them to further their economic activities.

On her address, the Australian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Ms Leilani Bin-Juda, described the commissioning event as a meaningful milestone regarding community impact.

“It is truly inspiring to see the fruits of the collaboration between such an innovative Australian company, Okra Solar, and our esteemed partner through the High Commission’s Direct Aid Program, Africa Nature Investors (ANI) Foundation, who have been carrying out remarkable projects helping local communities, particularly around the Gashaka Gumti National Park.” she said.

She explained the  initiative  will bring clean, green, solar energy to 63 households in Mayo Selbe for the first time.

The High commissioner, represented by Nacha Geoffrey,ANI Foundation county manager,further stated that the project represents a meaningful milestone in delivering tangible benefits to the local community around Gashaka Gumti National Park.

In his address,the Lamdo Gashaka, Alhaji Zubairu Hammangabdo Sambo, commended the partnership between ANI Foundation and the Australian High Commission, saying the project marks a new height in community development initiatives in Gashaka and beyond.

Mr.Richard Okorie Emmanuel and Hafsatu Kasan, who spoke on behalf of the house holds that benefited from the project,said the project will not only empower those who own shops in the community but will give the entire Mayo Selbe community a new lease of life.

Also speaking during the event,the Commissioner for Heritage and Ecotourism in Taraba State, Hon. Titus Joseph Nagombe, the project aligns with the developmental goals of the Agbu Kefas administration.

While lauding ANI, the Australia High Commission and Creeds, the project’s implementing partner, the commissioner said the state government remains committed to supporting ANI Foundation and other partners on such projects while nothing the park’s standing as the highest mountain peak in Nigeria and West Africa.
