A Gombe State Chief Magistrate court yesterday ordered a housewife to be remanded in prison custody for allegedly poisoning the food of her co-wife.
According to the police First Information Report (FIR), Hajara Barnoma Ibrahim of Zongomari village in Akko LGA of Gombe State was arraigned over attempt to commit murder. She was accused of administering some substance suspected to be poison in a soup she served her co-wife, Hadiza Mohammed Ibrahim, of the same address on November 21.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Habibu Danjuma, told the court that the accused put rat poison in the food with the intent to kill the woman.
The accused person admitted committing the crime and blamed the act as work of the devil.
Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida adjourned the case to December 18.
