‘Housing is part of restoration agenda in Bayelsa State’

The press secretary last week told newsmen in Abuja that Governor Dickson came to power with provision of housing as propriety.
“His Excellency came on board with a restoration agenda. Integral part of that restoration agenda is providing housing for all Bayelsans.
“As we speak, we’ve commenced work—constructing mass housing for Bayelsans.
“But of course, with a difficult terrain, it’s not project that can be delivered within a short time. But the project is on.
“We’re starting for civil servants. Thereafter we’ll also provide for the generality of the people.
“We have a mortgage system in place that will help the financing of these houses to enable many people have access to housing facilities,” the CPS explained.
He said Bayelsa State has a huge workforce.
“Bayelsa is majorly a civil service state. For the bulk of our workforce, we’re poised to meet their housing need.”
He said the housing project is in phases. The first 1,000 units is being done.
“As we deliver that, we’ll begin to expand. Areas have been marked out for housing estate. The houses are being built in the state capital, Yenogoa,” he stated.
