General Secretary of the union Comrade Issa Aremu made the call in Lagos on the occasion of Africa Day, saying that President Buhari must  think and act Africa and indeed global in order to fix Nigeria.
Aremu said late president Murtala Mohammed almost single handedly roused Africa to action over Southern African liberation with the famous Africa-has-come-of-age speech.
He said, “The whole continent is littered with smuggled, second hand and imported goods from Europe and China. Nigeria scandalously exports crude and imports refined petroleum products. It’s time to make in Africa, create jobs for the youths. We cannot industrialize without electrification and abundant energy.
“We need self-reliance. Poorer Africa built OAU Secretariat independently, why would Africa with triple figure GDP rely on China to rebuild the AU Secretariat years after? Africa must be strategic with China, not dependent.”
