As some women are obsessed over handbags, jewelries, hair extension and makeup, so are others obsessed with footwear also known as shoes to help compliment their outfit.

No fashion is complete if beautiful to match footwear is not worn.

Women shoes especially come in different shapes; heels – which include kitten heels, stiletto, chunky heels, block heels, wedges, curve heels, platforms, metallic heels, painted heels, sculptured heels and flat forms.

High heels can instantly upgrade any outfit from everyday wear, to special occasions, official and so on. They perk up your posture, making you look and feel taller, slimmer, gorgeous and give more sense of confidence. However that can also leave you with foot problems.

According to a new British survey conducted by the College of Podiatry, it only takes one hour and six minutes of wearing uncomfortable shoes to feel pain, with ailments ranging from blisters to muscular problems. And heels are not the only culprit, even flip flops can increase your risk for stress fractures.

Hillary Brenner, a podiatric surgeon in NYC and spokesperson for the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) said, wearing shoes is like dieting, adding that you have to count the hours you wear them.

“You can wear a bad shoe, just like you have dessert, but you don’t need dessert at every meal. You must sit down to find out which shoes you can wear, for how long, and why you don’t have to sacrifice style for support.”

The fashionspot online stated that block or kitten heels are your best bet when it comes to comfortable heels for work. “Usually, most comfortable heels feature technology in both the heel and sole.”

It stated that, ideally, heels shouldn’t be worn 24/7, even if they’re comfortable high heels. Podiatrists recommend kicking them off a couple of times a day to let your toes breathe a bit. Take this free time to stretch your ankles since they often receive the brunt of the stress. When your day is done, do another round of stretches and flexes to keep your feet happy.

The safest bet is to get few pairs of comfort and fashion forward heels, probably flats that can still make you look trendy.
