Suspected criminal reportedly stabbed a soldier during the Eid-Fitr Sallah celebration in Bida, the headquarters of Bida LGA, Niger State.
Sources told Daily Trust that the victim, who was in mufti, was identified to be army personnel by his inner military vest after he was stabbed.
The incident occurred at Etsu Musa roundabout, near Etsu Musa market in Bida town following a misunderstanding.
One of the sources said, “A fight broke out between some area boys and a soldier along Etsu Musa roundabout in Bida, and the soldier was stabbed on the left side of his stomach.”

The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident but said the victim was responding to treatment.
According to Abiodun, “On 30/3/2025 at about 1210hrs, information was received that at Panteka makwalla area of Bida, there was an altercation between a suspected soldier and some Panteka boys. During the process, the said soldier removed his jackknife and stabbed one of the boys at the back, while one of the boys collected the knife and stabbed the soldier in the stomach.”
He added that the soldier was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Bida, for treatment and was responding to treatment.
“The incident is under investigation at B Div Bida, efforts to identify the miscreants and effect arrest are in progress,” he added.
