TUC President, Comrade Bala Kaigama,who spoke in Lagos at the weekend, said the growing level of unemployment in Nigeria was worsened by levity of successive administration in  the country.
“Some of us  had visited some developed countries like Brazil where the government plans to provide and spreads 10 milion jobs in three years for accurate planning and implementation .They were able to double the figures and created over 20million jobs,” he said.
According to him, Nigeria can borrow a leaf from Brazil’s experiment by fixing the energy sector so that more transmission and distribution stations can be rolled out in four years.
“We should be able to develop our industrial and agriculture sectors as well as grow our road infrastructure. With those things in place, jobs will create themselves because it is not until when government employs people that jobs are created,” he added.
He spoke on casualization and outsourcing of workforce in Nigeria, saying the development is counterproductive to the growth of labour force in the country.
According to him, enforcement agencies of the Federal Government should be held responsible for the thriving level of outsourcing and casualization of workforce in the country.
“Casualization has been the bane of our problems in the organized labour. You will find out that most of these multinational companies have now opted to go for either outsourcing or  casualization to the extent that some companies will bring labourers, cleaners, gardeners, cooks and drivers from their parent countries to Nigeria.  Worse still, government agencies that are involved in ensuring compliance with expatriate quota are not doing something meaningful to nip the development in the bud,” he said.a
He however said his union is exploring avenues to engage the Ministry of Labour and Productivity with a view to addressing casualization of workforce and violation of workers’ rights in the country.
