The 38-year-old Itunu, a mother of three, who hails from Ifelodun in Kwara State, moulded the heroin into a baby-sized parcel and with the help of her boyfriend, Kamoru, who is now on the run, smartly inserted it into her private part. As if that was not all, Itunu who claimed she does not sniff cocaine or heroin also swallowed 75 wraps of the substance before heading to the airport. The actual quantity of the 75 wraps could not be immediately determined as she was still excreting as at press time.
Itunu told Weekly Trust that she used draw-soup to ingest the 75 wraps of the substance, adding that: “Kamoru, who introduced me to the business, was the one who wrapped the parcel weighing 205 grams in a leather bag, rubbed lubricant several times on my private part before pushing it in. We made several attempts before he finally succeed in pushing it in. It was painful but I had to do it as I thought I’d succeed and collect the money. I am now regretting. I was caught before boarding an Alitalia flight to Rome. I was to deliver the drugs there.
She added: “I met Kamoru about a year ago and we have been lovers. He gave me 3,000 Euros that I have been using to do business. He helped me obtain an international passport and helped me process my papers and introduced me into the international business. I used to go and buy women’s shoes and bags in Milan and I also buy clothes in Amsterdam. Two weeks ago, he said that I should smuggle drugs and that he will pay me 4,000 Euros. He even promised to marry me and take care of my 3 children. Initially, I did not agree, so he collected the 3,000 Euros that I am using to trade. He later persuaded me to do it. This is my first time and I have been caught.” Her eldest child is aged six.

Similarly, a male suspect that gave his name as Onugha Benjamin Simon inserted 19 wraps of heroin weighing 995 grams into his anal cavity after swallowing 50 other wraps of the substance. Simon, a Nigerian from Osisioma in Abia State, who lives in Guinea with his wife told Weekly Trust that he only came to Nigeria from Guinea to connect a direct flight to the United States of America (USA) when desperate drug barons intercepted him and with the alleged use of charms, made him to carry drugs and diverted his route Costa Rica. He said the barons promised to pay him 5,000 US dollars to deliver the drugs at Costa Rica. He was about boarding a Delta airline flight when he was nabbed.
“When I arrived, somebody directed me to a travel Agency where I met a man. He promised to pay for my return ticket on the condition that I will deliver a message for him at Costa Rica. He then took me in a car that he wants to introduce me to the man that will sponsor my trip. I was stupid to have followed him. I believe he used charm on me. I was taken to Osun State where they forced me to take an oath while standing on two eggs and holding a calabash. The following day I was taken to a hotel near Obalende in Lagos where they gave me the drugs. Swallowing the drugs was the most difficult task for me. This is my first time and I saw hell. All that I could take was 50 wraps. The man was angry with me that I was a waste. He insisted that I must take 120 wraps. When he saw that I could not swallow any more, he ordered his boys to force them in my boot. At first I thought he meant the boot of a car but suddenly, they stripped me naked, opened my anus and rubbed some oil then started loading wraps inside. That was how 19 pieces were forced inside my anus. I feel like giving up because I am ashamed. I really saw hell,” he said.
Simon said he was warned at the Osun shrine he was forced to take oath that when he either revealed any information about the planned trafficking or refused to take any instruction from those sponsoring him, he may die a mysterious death. He said though he really wanted the money promised him for trafficking the drugs, the process of forcefully drilling his anal cavity to allow for the insertion of the drugs and the ingestion of the 50 wraps was very painful.

Another suspect whose name was given as Onyenwe Everist Ntom, an auto parts dealer in Lagos, was arrested on his way to Dusseldorf in Germany when he was about boarding a KLM flight. He was alleged to have ingested 70 wraps of cocaine weighing about 2 kilograms. Ntom, who hails from Orlu in Imo State, said he is the eldest of seven children in their family and has lost his parents, adding: “Two of my younger ones are in the University, three in secondary school and one is learning a trade. I am solely responsible for them all and that was why I smuggled drugs,” he said.
Commenting, the Chairman and Chief executive of the agency, Ahmadu Giade urged parents, community and religious leaders, states and the local governments to collaborate with the agency in eradicating illicit drugs from the society. He said ingesting or inserting drugs in private parts could be very dangerous to health, warning, “One can only enjoy his or her money when the person is living and in good health. Swallowing drugs or putting them in private parts could only lead to damaging ones system that could eventually lead to death.
Confirming the arrests, NDLEA Assistant Commander at the Lagos Airport, Alhaji Idris Bello, said his men are set to ensure that the airport is properly secured against any attempt to smuggle illicit drugs in or out. He said all the exhibits recovered from the suspects have been properly secured while arrangements have been concluded to charge all the suspects to court.
