A former drug addict has recalled how he recovered from abuse of drugs after a rehabilitation process that lasted 12 months while encouraging drug addicts to desist from the practice.
Taire Clarke, who said he was a drug addict for over two decades, spoke at the graduation of 31 former drug addicts who were rehabilitated by a faith-based non-governmental organisation, Christ Against Drug Abuse Ministry at its rehabilitation centre in Araga, Epe.

A total of 28 men and three women who have undergone treatment and rehabilitation for substance use disorder (commonly referred to as drug addiction) were reintegrated into society.
They were equally empowered to live drug-free and productive lives, a statement by the group revealed.
Clarke said , “My transformation started gradually, it started very, very slowly. I had two choices, stay and get better, or quit and run away. A lot of people quit. When we started we were about 50.”
The beneficiaries at the Enoch and Folu Adeboye Rehabilitation Centre were provided with intensive treatment services for their drug addiction.
The work of CADAM is supported by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) represented by CADAM’s Matron, Pastor (Mrs) Folu Adeboye, wife of the general overseer.
The Group Executive Vice Chairman, SIFAX Group, Dr Taiwo Afolabi, called for an urgent need to establish and support more drug rehabilitation centres across the country.
