Halimafactor community initiative in collaboration with Gombe State University and the National Orientation Agency this year held their 4th edition at the College of Nursing and Midwifery, with the objective of helping youths discover their innate creative abilities.
The event was designed to showcase the great literary and artistic potentials of youths of Gombe State and Nigeria at large. The programs went to show that youths are intelligent, resourceful and innovative individuals when exposed to the right platform.
Mrs Halima M. Usman, who is the convener, gave the welcome address and spoke on the progress so far and the challenges encountered in schools, from lack of support to a poor turnout. She thanked collaborators for their advice and support, the Gombe State Government, organizations and individuals who pledged and saw that the programme was held annually.
The Govorneor of Gombe State, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, was represented by the Secretary to the state Government, hailed Mrs Usman for creating such a platform for youths to showcase their talents and pledged government’s support.
Dignitaries who attended the event also pledged continuous support, both at state and national level. The Yariman Gombe, who is the Senior District Head, thanked Halima Usman for the love she has for the state despite all the challenges in the northeast regarding education.
The 2017 edition of Gombe Day of Literature and Creativity witnessed a large turnout of dignitaries, schools and individuals who made the event mind blowing and interactive. Schools and individuals who won the competition were given awards and cash prizes.
