‘How men can ensure sound health in difficult times’

Medical and financial experts of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have counselled on regular medical check-ups and financial prudence to survive the difficult economic times in the country.
They gave the advice at the RCCG Regional Men Convention and Medical Outreach of the men’s fellowship at the Region 46 headquarters in Nyanya, Abuja on Saturday. The programme had the theme; “Wind of Refreshing”.
In a health seminar, Dr Levin Damisah enjoined men to conduct regular checks on their blood pressure, prostate and stress levels.
Damisah also alerted men to the symptoms of andropause, which happens when there is a decrease in hormone testosterone levels.
In his presentation on financial management, Pastor Olayinka Yusuf advised men to seek income-yielding ventures to support their families, adding that they should also have skills for budgeting, investment, savings, and to write a will as insurance.
He further adviced men not to ignore the God factor in their affairs and should invest in kingdom projects such as tithing and others within their abilities.
The medical outreach coordinator, Matron Olaiya Titilaya said the outreach was to collect vital signs and conduct laboratory investigations for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, blood sugar levels, PSA prostate tests and urinalysis for protein.
She said it was heartwarming that among the targeted 500 men, there are not many major health conditions that have been referred for further medical attention.
A beneficiary of the medical check, Pastor Ayo Fatunwase commended the planning committee for the organisation of the event, which he said was timely considering the weight of the economic difficulties on the shoulders of most men.
Similarly, Pastor Emmanuel Olatoye said the medical outreach combined with the health and financial seminar was a good idea that meets the needs of men.
