An Islamic scholar, Sheikh Tajudeen Adigun, has underscored the need for Muslims to relate with people of other faiths with good character.
He spoke at a seminar themed “Refuting Engendered Ambiguities in the Personality and History of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)”, organised by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter of Organisation Tadhamunul Muslimeen (OTM) in Abuja.
Sheikh Adigun, who is the Chief Imam of Fou’ad Lababidi Central Mosque, Abuja, said the unbelievers must be made to “embrace us because of our virtuous behaviours as exemplified by Prophet Muhammad.”
He said Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was so trusted by unbelievers that they accepted him as a judge.
The scholar stressed the need to have a blueprint to propagate Islam in the South East and South South geo-political zones.
said, “The kuffaar (unbelievers) have a consensus about his (prophet’s) trustworthiness even before his prophethood. The Quraysh – everybody accepted him because of his character. We should use wisdom to call non-Muslims. We need to relate with them with good character.
“If serious Muslims do not relate with them, the unserious ones will relate with them to commit sins like fornication and alcoholism.
“They do not see the beauty of Islam because no good Muslim relates with them. However, you have to be intelligent in dealing with them. You can eat together and hug one another.
“What is important is to break the hearts of idol worshipers not idols. They will break the idols on their own.”
The scholar discouraged begging and encouraged youths to embrace farming instead of looking for white collar jobs, adding that the companions of the prophet with genuine faith (eeman) were hardworking.
While delivering his lecture, Ustadh Aliy Shuaib Abdussalam said: “You cannot understand and relate well with the Qur’an except through the Sunnah (teachings of Prophet Muhammad).”
Ustadh Shafiu Badmos, while speaking, said faith deeply rooted in certainty was used by the prophet to overcome challenges in his lifetime.
