The coach of the Nigeria National League side noted that though it is still early to say which team will win the league title, there are some factors that will tilt the trophy in favour of any of the top clubs.
“The team that will win the trophy must remain steadfast in all ramifications. They must train and be ready to win all matches. The edge the team will have is their away form,” said Akpokona.
“Winning at home cannot guarantee the trophy. The extra points from away matches will do the trick. “Look at Enyimba; that point against Wikki Tourists in Bauchi is why they are presently on top of the league table.
“The club must ensure that there is no disunity in the team. Players must be ready to play for one another. They must sacrifice everything to ensure success comes their way.
“Officials of the team that will eventually win the trophy must pay the players as and when due. They must be able to motivate and make their players at every point in the remaining matches,” he added.
“The team should also remain injury free in the crucial matches. And of course the team must pray that they get favourable officiating both at home and away matches.
“Lastly the supporters club must at all the time cheer the team and be ready to defend the integrity of the team. They should ensure there are no problem after home matches, whether they win or not, Akpokona added.
With over 12 matches to the end of the season, there will be more twists and turns at the head and lower rungs of the table.
