Nigerian entrepreneur Onyedikachi Erugo is redefining the impact of technology on Africa’s development. As CEO and co-founder of Hagull Limited, he is building platforms that combine financial inclusion with solutions across renewable energy, real estate, and agriculture. His mission is to leverage technology to generate tangible growth and empower communities.
Erugo was born in Nigeria and moved to Libreville, Gabon, completing his primary education there before returning to Nigeria. He later earned a distinction in Software Engineering at Aptech Institute and completed a BSc in Computer Science and Systems Engineering at Middlesex University Malta during the COVID-19 pandemic. His international background and academic achievements provide a foundation for his innovative approach to fintech.
“Technology must be applied where it creates real value,” Erugo said. “At Hagull, we start with financial inclusion because it affects every part of economic life. Once people can access financial tools, technology can solve broader problems in communities.”
Hagull Limited was inspired by personal experience.
When Erugo’s brother studied in Ukraine and their parents were paying fees for him at Middlesex, Malta, they faced high exchange rates and payment challenges. Recognizing that many others faced similar struggles, they decided to build a solution.
“Our motivation was simple,” Erugo said. “We wanted to remove barriers preventing access to financial services. That personal challenge became the inspiration for a platform that can help thousands of people.”
Erugo gained professional experience with Credit Clan, Cerebral Hub, Salvex in Houston, Sycamore, and Nobus Cloud Services, as a software engineer, equipping him with practical knowledge to build scalable fintech solutions.
“Our goal is to use technology to create impact beyond finance,” Erugo said. “Hagull is now expanding into decentralized finance, AI banking, and solutions for energy, agriculture, and real estate. Every innovation is meant to improve lives.”
Hagull’s marketplace enables multi-currency and crypto transactions across Africa, Europe, and the United States. The company is positioning itself as a hub for multi-sector innovation, demonstrating how fintech can drive economic and social development.
Erugo emphasizes that the human element is just as important as technological innovation. “Building technology is not enough if it does not respond to people’s real needs,” he said. “At Hagull, we engage closely with users to understand their challenges and ensure our solutions are practical, reliable, and transformative.”
“Technology is valuable only if it improves lives,” Erugo said. “Solving financial challenges opens doors for growth across multiple sectors, creating lasting impact for communities.”
By addressing real problems and scaling solutions, Onyedikachi Erugo is proving that African innovators can create technology with local relevance and global potential. His work at Hagull Limited is transforming technology into a growth engine for Africa and inspiring a new generation of leaders to innovate with purpose.
