Abdulhamid Abdullahi did not appear remorseful as he walks out from a police cell despite been accused of hacking his father to death for refusing to marry him a wife.

A 25-yr old resident of Alwari village in Kirikasamma local government area of Jigawa state, Abdullahi had left tongues wagging in the town penultimate Sunday after attacking his biological father, Mallam Abdullahi Kirikasamma with an axe.

The deceased, who was 65-yr-old, was hit in the head and left in pool of his blood at around 3am on the fateful day, Kano Chronicle, gathered.

A father of nine, late Kirikasamma was said to have complained to his eldest son, Yakubu Abdullahi, about the unruly behavior of Abdullahi whom he said had became aggressive in the recent times.

Kano Chronicle findings also revealed that Abdullahi had, on several occasions, accused one of his elder brothers, Garba Abdullahi of sabotaging his efforts to convince their father to marry a wife for him.

However, Yakubu suspected that his younger brother was suffering from mental disorder, noting that “at a time, we arranged to take him to herbalist for treatment, but he rejected the idea and scuttled the move.”

He said: “My step mother came to my room and woke me up on the fateful day the incident happened. She told me that my younger brother armed himself with an axe and headed to our father’s house. She directed me to quickly follow him because she suspected that he was planning something terrible. But before I reach the house, he had already attacked our father and inflicted a severe wound on his head.

The incident occurred around 3am.

“We rushed our father to Birniwa general hospital having realized the enormity of the injury he sustained, but doctors refused to admit him because we were not accompanied by a policeman. They asked us to go back to Kirikasamma and report the case to the police.”

Yakubu lamented that despite the deceased critical condition, they rushed back to Kirikassama and reported the case to the police and a policeman was attached to them, but before returning to Birniwa hospital, his condition had deteriorated.

He added that after a brief examination by the doctors at the hospital, they referred them to another hospital in Nguru, Yobe state, but he passed on before reaching the hospital.

Asked whether Abdullahi was into hard drugs, Yakubu said he was not sure of that as none of the family members had reported seeing him taking drugs and nobody had ever accuse him of drug abuse.

He also denied any knowledge of ill feeling between his two younger brothers, Garba and Abdullahi, saying that he could not remember any serious quarrel between them.

Yakubu further debunked the issue of speculated marriage that was said to be the cause of misunderstanding between Garba and Abdullahi, saying he only hear about it after the brutal murder of their father.

Speaking to Kano Chronicle, Abdullahi said he did not intend to kill
his father but his elder brother, Garba.

He said it was in the process of attacking his brother that he mistakenly hit his father and he eventually passed away.

“My target, Garba, ran to our father’s house for safety after realizing that his life was in danger and on reaching there, he hid inside our father’s bed room. Having sensed the danger, our father came out from the room and approached me with intention to stop me
from attacking him.

“It was in the process I attacked my father thinking that it was my elder brother because he came out from the same room where my brother hid himself.”

The suspected killer said he went after his brother because he was the stumbling block to all his efforts to get a wife.

He added that his father had told him that he refused to marry a wife for him because his elder brother had kicked against all the girls he had proposed.

On whether the aggression was base on drugs influence, Abdullahi confessed that he had been into hard drugs for some years and that prior to the crime he took a red tablet otherwise called ‘Boko Haram’ to facilitate him carry out his heinous crime.

“I took Boko Haram tablet before committing the crime. We buy the drugs at the cost of N15 and I used to take one tablet or two daily.”

Abdullahi said he regretted his actions, adding that “I am going to miss my father because while he was alive, I am his much loved. There was never a time that he denied me something.”
