When Sunday Trust visited the house situated at 26A Silifat Abioye Street, Oke-Ira, Ogba, Lagos, the entire environment was still in a mourning mood. The two wives of the deceased refused to talk with our correspondent maintaining that only the head of the family could speak because they were too disheartened to talk to the press.

Chief Muyideen who was an executive of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Agege branch, was reported to have been stabbed to death by one of his tenants who thereafter, also stabbed himself to death.

Trouble started when Mr Johnson started beating his wife mercilessly on the fateful day and he later vowed that he was going to kill anyone who dared intervene.

Daughter of the deceased landlord, Kabirat Adekanbi, who was bold enough to talk to our correspondent, maintained that nobody ever believed that Johnson would carry out his threat. It was too unbelievable when he said he was going to stab himself and anyone who intervened in the fight between him and his wife.

“Daddy thought it was just an empty threat. That was why he intervened and got killed for that. He was crying that, ‘So Johnson, you can stab me,’ before he finally died at a private hospital where he was rushed to for emergency treatment.”

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the story and stated that it has commenced investigations into the case and would get further evidence from eye-witnesses.
