Olasanoye, who spoke in Lagos recently,  during the 2014 International Women’s Day Celebration, said the development is the best way to inspire change among women in Nigeria, just as she advised women to shake off the feeling of helplessness.
“Life sometimes offer serious challenges; yes, but we have to fight back and emerge victorious. Challenges teach us to face life boldly.
“As women we have the power to create, nurture and mould…we can carry the burden of our families and society with ease. We must not underestimate our strengths and abilities,” she said.
She also condemned what she termed the growing violence against women in the Nigeria, saying the practice is senseless, self-defeating and a moral stain.
According to her, women are harassed in the workplace, community and sometimes forced into early marriage, abused by partners, trafficked for sexual exploitation, and raped.
In his remarks, President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Comrade Bala Bobboi Kaigama urged women to be bold in the bid to inspire change in the society.
