Speaking at a one day Anti-Counterfeit summit organized by the HP in Abuja, the regional investigation manager, Europe, Middle East and Africa of HP, Geoffrey Eyles, said the decision to collaborate with SON and other law enforcement agencies was to have a synergy that will help stamp out counterfeit products in the country.
He said Nigeria was becoming a target of fake ICT products because of its huge market and is equally killing the image of companies that are producing the original products.
Delivering the keynote address, Director General of SON Dr. Joseph Odumodu said counterfeiters have raked N100 billion from consumers and that the regulatory laws in the country are not properly enforced to stem the tide.
He therefore called on HP to set up new measures in their fight against counterfeiting of products, adding that SON will do its best to help them in the fight.
