A group of hungry elephants yesterday terrorised the town of Galo and its surrounding farms in the far north of Liberia.
The agency responsible for managing Liberia’s forests, the Forestry Development Authority (FDA), later dispatched a team to the northern county of Gbarpolu to quell the invasion.
Elephants rarely venture out of the jungles where they live – with most staying in the county’s Belle National Forest, which is inaccessible by road.
The invading elephants around Galo first reportedly attacked and destroyed rice paddies and other farms.
