A hunter has been gunned down by bandits during a joint operation with the police which led to the rescue of kidnap victims from Chukuku forest in Kuje Area Council of the FCT.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Sunday Babaji, disclosed the incident to newsmen at the command’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the operation was carried out following intelligence report about the movement of suspected bandits holding their victims hostage at Dadu hill.

He said upon receipt of the information, the police command with some hunters stormed Dadu hills through Chukwuku village to engage the bandits in a gun battle.

He said during the cross fire, one of the hunters fell to the bullets of the bandits, even as he noted that the bandits’ hideout was dislodged while four abducted victims were rescued unhurt.

The CP, therefore, urged residents of the FCT to remain vigilant and strengthen their partnership with the police by reporting any suspicious or abnormal occurrence through the command emergency lines 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883.
