Hunters have arrested five suspected kidnappers at Osara community along the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

One of the hunters who said he was part of the operation and identified himself simply as Suleiman, said the incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday when the hunters engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel at a forest near Atami village.

He said some of the bandits escaped with bullet wounds, even as he noted that the hunters were on their trail.

He explained that, “Some villagers who were on their way to the farm sighted the kidnappers and turned back to alert the hunters and we mobilised and engaged them inside the forest.”

The Chairman of Okehi LGA of Kogi State, Abdulraheem Ohiare Ozovehe, confirmed the arrest of the kidnappers through telephone.

He said the kidnappers were among the gangs who had been terrorising travellers along the Okene-Lokoja road, adding that the five kidnappers had been handed over to security agents.
