Hon. Garba Aliyu Hungu has paid an emotional 40-day tribute to his late wife, Hajiya Barrister Umma Lawal Dodo, describing her as a devoted partner, mother, and pillar of strength to their family.

In a message marking 40 days since her passing, Hungu expressed deep grief over the loss, saying her absence has left a profound void in his life and home.

“It has been forty days since you returned to your Creator, yet it feels like it was only yesterday. The home we built together is quieter now, and life feels heavier in ways I cannot fully explain,” he said.

He described his late wife as more than a life partner, noting that she played a central role in sustaining the family through both joyful and difficult moments.

“For decades, you were more than my partner. You were my closest friend, my peace, and my greatest support,” he said. “You stood by me with patience, loyalty, and a love that never wavered.”

Hungu also highlighted her role as a mother figure, saying she extended care and affection to all children in the family without discrimination.

“You were the heart of this family. You embraced every child as your own and loved them without condition or hesitation,” he said. “There was no difference in your love; you were truly a mother to all.”

Reflecting on her health challenges, he praised her resilience and faith, particularly during her period of illness.

“Even in your illness, far away in Cairo, your strength never left you. You bore your pain with patience, dignity, and unwavering faith,” he said.

He added that despite her condition, she remained actively involved in family matters.

“From a distance, you remained present, always concerned, always ensuring that everything at home was in order,” he said.

The grieving husband said he continues to miss her deeply, recalling her presence and the everyday moments they shared.

“I miss your voice, your presence, your companionship, and the peace you brought into my life. I miss the little things, the everyday moments that made life meaningful,” he said.

Hungu, however, expressed hope and comfort in his faith, offering prayers for her eternal rest.

“I take solace in knowing that you have returned to Allah, and I hold firmly to the hope that He has welcomed you with His mercy,” he said.

Praying for her, he added: “Ya Allah, forgive my wife, have mercy on her, and grant her Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus.”

He concluded the tribute by affirming that her memory would remain with him forever.

“You may be gone from my sight, but you will never be gone from my heart. I will carry your love and memories with me for the rest of my life,” he said.

The tribute reflects the enduring emotional and spiritual significance of the 40-day remembrance observed in many Muslim communities following the death of a loved one.
