Husband to court: My wife got pregnant for another man

A middle-age man, Sulaimon Oyebola, yesterday urged a customary court sitting in Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State, to grant the divorce prayer of his wife, Adijat Oyebola, who had filed a petition before the court to divorce him.

Oyebola, who was responding to series of allegations Adijat had levelled against him, in turn accused the wife of being adulterous.

He specifically told the court that his divorce-seeking wife got pregnant for another man under his roof.

“I am not objecting to the divorce plea. Already, she had packed out of the house and equally turned the children against me.  She doesn’t allow me have free access to them unless when I go to their school.

“She’s adulterous. She got pregnant for another man while she was still married to me,” he said.

The petitioner, who pleaded separation from the 19-year-old marriage, had accused her husband of irresponsibility and excessive beating.

The 40-year-old woman said she had truly packed out of her matrimonial home seven years and prayed the court to dissolve the marriage “in the interest of peace.”

She also pleaded with the court to grant her custody of the children “for motherly care”, while her husband should be compelled to shoulder their welfare and school fees.

The court president, Mrs President Olorunwo Sam-Obaleye, adjourned the case till January 15, 2019 for judgment.
