Towards the end of last year’s league season, Iorfa lodged a protest to the Nigeria Premier League, accusing officials of Sunshine Football Club of Akure and match officials of conniving to manipulate the result of Lobi’s home game against the Akure side at the Abubakar Tafawa Barewa Stadium Bauchi.

The case dragged on for weeks and was later transferred to the Nigeria Football Federation Organizing and Disciplinary Committee, which is yet to take a final decision on the matter.

But Iorfa, who spoke to reporters in Abuja, said the decision to take up arms against Sunshine and match officials in the ill-fated match was aimed at cleaning the system to pave way for the development of the game in Nigeria.

“The match fixing case I lodged against Sunshine was not a fight against Sunshine Stars but the fight to correct the bad things that have been happening in our football league”, he stated.
