I am inching closer to Eagles debut – Zango

Although he was one of the substitutes that did not see action in the 6-1 drubbing of the Lone Star of Liberia, the former Lobi Stars defender said he was happy to be on the reserve bench.

He said in the match against the Lone Star in Monrovia, he did not even make the team that travelled but this time he was dressed for the match and this to him is a sign of good things to come.

The defender who has been a regular face in the Home-based Eagles maintained that he always believed that time will surely come when he would play for the Eagles so he is ready to wait for such time to come his way.

Zango said he is always ready to give his hundred percent to the team and anytime he is given the chance to play, he would not disappoint his fans.

“I am happy with the progress that I have made. I can say that I am gradually inching closer to my first competitive game for the Super Eagles.

“In the first leg in Monrovia, I was not on the bench. I did not travel but this time, I made it to the reserve bench. This is a clear sign that I will soon get my chance on the big stage.

“I have no doubt in my mind that my time will soon come. I am always ready to give my one hundred percent if given a chance to play. I have been part of this team for long now so I think the coaches have found something positive in me”.

Zango said he is not going to rest on his oars because for him, the fight to get into the mainstream of the Eagles has just started and he will keep doing his best to be part of the team to South Africa.

“I have resolved to play my way to South Africa. I want to make the team and the only way to make it happen is to keep improving. I have to work harder”, he said.
