A suspected criminal, Mr. Ikechukwu Udensi alias Ikanda, alleged to have killed one Mr. Ndubisi Nwokolo in Onitsha was paraded on Monday by the Anambra State Police Command.

He however said that he is not a criminal but a toll-collector for the state government.

Udensi, an indigene of Azia town in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state, told journalists after being paraded, that he is not involved in the killing of Ndubisi Nwokolo in Onitsha last year as alleged by the Police, saying that he was only engaged by the state government to collect tolls in Onitsha.

He said that he works with one Linus Ezechukwu and others collecting tolls for the goverment of the state.

“I’m not a criminal, I work for the Anambra state government, collecting tolls. I did not kill Ndubisi Nwokolo. I was called that the boys helping me to collect tolls killed somebody, I was never involved in the killing or instructed any person to kill him” he said.

On how he collects tolls, he said that any person that refused to pay will have his battery seized.

“Some of the tickets value are N1500 and N6000,”he stated.

On why he refused to produce the killers since they were his boys, he said he does not know them personally and they have run away.

According to him, the boys were recruited by somebody collecting the tolls before me,’ I never recruited any of them,.’

He also said he did not know why and who killed Ndubisi Nwokolo in Onitsha.

Earlier,the State Police Commissioner, Mustapha Dandaura, parading the suspect and those that burnt down Ajali Police station said these suspects have been terrorising the state, robbing and killing innocent citizens.

According to Dandaura,who just resumed duty after election, Ikanda allegedly murdered Ndubisi Nwokolo last year in Onitsha with his accomplices, using offensive weapons, such as machetes and cutlass on the victim.

Dandaura said, after the incidence, Police launched aggressive manhunt for him and following intelligence report raided a criminal hideout at Menax near down flyover , Onitsha and arrested him.
