Mbu said this yesterday while fielding questions from journalists to mark his resumption of duty in the FCT.
He said: “I am not coming to do politics here.”
Asked about allegations of his non-neutrality in the political crisis in Rivers State, Mbu said: “Am not coming to do politics here ask questions within what I am telling you here.”
He insisted, “please don’t ask me those questions. I came to the FCT to work. Watch and monitor what is happening in Rivers State now and ask the CP there.”
When asked about building confidence in the public, considering the controversies in Rivers State, he said, “I have nothing to say about that,” adding that, “because in Rivers State, 97 of the public have confidence in the police, you can go there and ask.”
Earlier in a briefing to journalists, Mbu promised to build confidence in men of the FCT Police Command and defend police men as long as they are doing the right thing.
“You are driving one way, or you are doing that which is not good and the policeman accosts you and you start telling him; am going to call the IG, am going to call the CP, I will dismiss you!. I will not accept that, I will defend my police men as long as they are doing the right thing,” he said.
The new CP for Abuja had stern warning for criminals. “I will make sure that you, who are trying to take laws into your hands and do that which is not good, we will make sure we bring you to book, because without confidence building in the men, anybody can cow the men down and they will not do their job.”
He told journalists to be credible and to always report the truth saying, “whoever gives you money or sponsors you against us, pocket the money and then report the truth.”
