‘I constantly had the feeling I will win’ – Casey, winner of Glo Naija Sings

Casey, 27, is a student with a Diploma in Music from Nnamdi Azikiwe University. According to his profile before the show commenced ‘he auditioned for Glo Naija Sings because he believes he can win and he has what the competition is looking for’. Indeed he supplied the audience what they wanted. He had said the audiences should vote for him because he is good and would make them proud, representing Nigeria musically and otherwise, anywhere.’ Indeed the audience reckoned with his submissions, they recognized his talents and they indeed voted for him. And he would later tell Sunday Trust he would do his supporters proud.

He had said he likes singing, and feels alive, fulfilled, happy and valued when singing: “It feels like I’m taking you into my world, showing and giving you something you need. I feel like a creator. It’s emotional, energetic – it’s just fun, love it!”

The best advice he ever received came from his Pastor: “You can be anything you want – keep saying it, don’t stop talking”. The advice seems to have propelled him to stardom now.

“I just had the mind set I would win. It has been on my mind” he said adding that it is the beginning of more work for him on his music career.

Singing Sensation Da Brothers and the hard fighting Rasine made it to the top three. Though some people had tipped Da Brothers to win because of their strong acts, they narrowly lost to Casey.

Even Casey would tell Sunday Trust that if he hadn’t won, obviously Da Brothers would have taken the prize. The judges agreed with this submission.

The resident judge, Tosin Martins, also told Sunday Trust that Casey and Da Brothers were the major hopefuls.

But their eight weeks on Glo Naija Sings hasn’t been a waste. Organizers say they have had a unique platform to launch themselves unto stardom.

Glo hasn’t abandoned them either. Glo has promised to feature them on a ten day show in ten cities coming up pretty soon, another opportunity for them to express themselves.
