A 24-year-old woman, Olamide Akinbobola, who is being tried for fratricide at the Ebute-Meta chief magistrate’s court, yesterday regretted she couldn’t control her anger during a quarrel with her elder brother.

The police told the court that Olamide had, three weeks ago, stabbed the deceased, Dara Akinbobola, to death during a disagreement with him at Olupebi Abijo Street, Ikorodu, Lagos State.

The accused, in tears, pleaded she committed the offence in anger. “He is my brother from the same parents. I was only enraged and never knew when it happened,” she said.

The prosecutor, Inspector K. Omishakin, said Akinbobola had had a disagreement with the accused, who was his younger sister, leading to a quarrel during which she grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed him on the neck.

Omishakin said Akinbobola was rushed to the hospital but died before the doctors could attend to him.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs A .O. Komolafe, denied Olamide bail and ordered she should be remanded in prison custody.

She adjourned the case till September 28, 2018.
