I feel great as best graduating student – Abigail

Clement Young Abigail, a product of public school was announced at the third convocation ceremony of the Federal University, Dutse as the overall best graduating student for 2017/18 academic year. In this short interview, Abigail said attaining greatness is not a day’s job but sustained focus and determination.

How I feel as the overall best graduate

I feel good. I feel so great and I give glory to the Almighty, who has made it possible for me to attain this height. It was really not easy as I had to go through a five year programme. I went through many challenges but at last, here I am as the best among my mates.

Success recorded, evidence of my parents’ sacrifice

I can attribute this to my parents and I must salute them for their encouragement and sacrifices, because without that, I wouldn’t have been able to face my studies squarely. Diligence and hard work are always the key to the path of success.

I attended public schools, but aspired for the best

I have never had coaching classes, and I attended public schools for both primary and secondary education. I went to Federal Government Girls College Staff School, Kazaure, and Government Girls Secondary School, Garki, both in Jigawa State. However, I read a lot on my own. I am the type whose hobby is reading; I spend a lot of time in the library. I think this must have been the secret of my success.

My plans for the future as a graduate

I want to go to abroad for my masters degree programmes, if I have the support and the means.

What others must do to attain success

Anyone that wants this pathway should remain focused on what brought her to the university, and being bookish is the key. Just come in with a mind-set – that you want to excel. Remain determined towards achieving the purpose; be fond of your books and that will help you.
