Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has declared that he has no plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor who made the declarations while hosting stakeholders from ten local government areas to a Ramadan iftar at the Government House, said he has no reason to leave the party.

He said, “If I leave the PDP for any political party, then I am not the Kaura (warrior) that I am, but a coward. A Kaura (warrior) does not run away from wars.”

Mohammed who is also the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, explained that he was elected governor for two terms by the people of Bauchi State, adding, “The people of Bauchi State have done a lot for me; I will not abandon them for whatever reason.”

The Governor assured that he would continue to remain in the PDP for the sake of Nigeria’s democracy, which requires a purposeful, formidable and virile opposition, stressing that Nigeria practices a multi-party democratic system.

He used the occasion to charge faithful members of the PDP in the state to remain committed, ardent, resolute and supportive of the party and his administration until the end of his tenure.

In a swift response, the Bauchi State Caretaker Committee of PDP loyal to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed said the governor is not a member of the  PDP, insisting that Gov Mohammed alongside his two colleagues and other members were expelled from the party,

“The attention of The Bauchi State PDP Caretaker Committee has been drawn to a video currently in circulation in which His Excellency, Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed  claimed membership of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

“For the avoidance of doubt, this claim is misleading. The Caretaker Committee wishes to respectfully draw the attention of His Excellency, and members of the public to the 103rd and 104th Resolutions of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party, wherein he, Gov Bala, alongside Governors Seyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, and a host of others, were formally expelled from the party for actions deemed inconsistent with the constitution of the party.” He said that the party’s position regarding his status remains clear and has not changed.
