I joined Kaduna LG race for development — Ex-international

An ex-international footballer, Ekene Abubakar Adams, has explained why he joined the race for the chairmanship of Chikun LGA of Kaduna State.

He told Daily Trust that he joined the race to support the state governor, Malam Nasir el-Rufai, to address the developmental challenges at the grassroots.

“I decided to join this race to develop Chikun LGA and my people because for me I am in politics to show good example to others by discharging my primary responsibility of putting the people’s development first,” he said.

If elected in the forthcoming local government election in the state slated for May 15, this year, he said he would forfeit his salary as chairman.

“My mission is to rescue the local government,” he said, and urged the people of the area to put sentiments aside and elect a qualified person to steer the area to greater heights.
