Mustapha stated this during a meeting of the council of the university, a statement from the university, signed by the director of public communication, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo, has said.
The pro-chancellor was appointed by the federal government on April 4, 2015.
He took over from General Adeyinka Adebayo (Rtd).
He promised to make the institution a first choice for Nigerians interested in earning quality certificates at all levels.
The statement said: “In the next five years, efforts would be made on the transformation of the university’s newly established School of Business to be one of the best in Africa as in the case of its medicine, forest resources management, fisheries, ecotourism, mathematics, history, English programmes, among others.”
It said he pro-chancellor promised to improve on the existing working relationship between the academic and non-academic staff of the institution, with a view of improving the teaching and learning environment.
He urged the university’s management to improve the welfare of the students, especially in the areas of accommodation, feeding, transportation, medicare, and lectures.
He emphasised the need for both lecturers and students to shun plagiarism, saying that plagiarism could diminish the reputation of university.
