According to a report by online news portal, CKN Nigeria, Obesere said in a chat with the medium last Wednesday that there was no iota of truth in the allegation, adding that those behind the story were out to blackmail and extort money from him.
“There is no iota of truth in that story. As we speak now, I am in the comfort of my house, contrary to the story that I have been detained by the police. Last week Saturday, I performed at Ilesha, Osun State. That can also be verified. So, at what point was I detained. Do detainees pick calls in police cells?
“These people are just out to blackmail and extort money from me. I work so hard for my money and no one can take it from me,” Obesere said.
The report also quoted the artiste as saying: “Nigeria has laws and people should obey the laws. You cannot just wake up with unverifiable stories just because you don’t like my face. Anyway, they are only making me popular by their negative stories.
“All they said about me is just cock and bull story just targeted at rubbishing my image, but God is greater than every one of us. Kindly tell all my fans not to panic because, the stories were just cooked up. At the appropriate time, I’ll address it.”
Olaiya had claimed to have met Obesere through one of her friends, Mrs. Bola Okoro, who told her he would assist her business.
According to the report, Olaiya said: “I deal in office equipment and when I contacted Obesere, he asked me to meet him in his family house at Okota. When I met him, I introduced my business to him and he promised to connect me to some of his friends in Dubai who would sell goods to me on credit.
“After the discussion, he started demanding for sex and I refused and when I wanted to leave, he insisted I should sleep over in his house, because it was late and he claimed that it was dangerous to go out late in the night in his area.
“I thought he was a responsible man and I decided to sleep over, but at the dead of the night, he came into the room where I slept and pounced on me.
“He raped me and afterwards inserted a ring he wore into my private part and I started bleeding. He hurriedly left me in the room, saying he had an appointment to fulfill.
“I could not bear the trauma and the bleeding and I reported the matter to the police.”
Another news portal Naijahottestgist, reportedly spoke to Obesere on Wednesday as well.
According to the report, Obesere advised men to “be more careful. This is a babe I have known for years. She claimed we have business dealing; but ask her what business dealing takes place in the middle of the night between two matured men (people). I have known Nike for years and my band boys and her friends can attest to this.”
Another website reported that police sources also said Obesere in his statement denied ever raping Olaiya, rather he claimed she was his lover.
The source added that Obesere claimed he asked her to go to a private hospital for treatment when she complained that she was bleeding, but he was surprised when she reported to the police that she was raped.”
