I monitored palliatives distribution for 3 days without sleep – Abaji boss

The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, said he could not sleep for three days when he was monitoring the distribution of the FCTA palliatives in the area.

Ajiya, who stated this when he received the report of the palliatives distribution committee yesterday, said he denied himself such sleep just to ensure that the palliatives get to the right persons.

He said he was satisfied that the palliatives were given to each house- hold across the ten wards of the council, saying “I can challenge anyone to come out to complain that he or she was not given palliatives”.

He stated that the success of the palliatives distribution in the area was as a result of sacrifice and commitment of the committee members made by reaching down to the vulnerable ones across the rural communities.

He said he stood under the scotch of the sun for three days inside the secretariat where the trailers offloaded the palliatives into waiting vans to various wards across the council and accompanied by security agents.

“In fact, even after the distribution of the palliatives, we later had some extra bags of rice and condiments which we later distributed out again to those that came with one complaint or the other, “ he added.

The chairman therefore commended the FCT minister of state, Hajiya Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, for her efforts towards ensuring that people of the council were given the palliatives, which he said had cushion the hardship on COVID-19 location.
