Nigerians can be funny at times; they can be easily confused and can bedribbled as football. The menace of blind followership is stillculminating into new heights, once a politician is out to strike hiscolleagues he will be celebrated like a hero, on the other hand the whistleblowers mostly raise alarm when they were defeated in the dirty game of corruption and embezzlement; so long the game was going smooth you willnever hear a word from their side.
The self-acclaimedanti-corruption crusader AbdulmumuniJibrin and hiscoincidental enemy MrYakubuDogara were old time friends who connived toshort change us in both budget and legislative aspects. As witness in thetradition of both Senate and the House of Representatives, a close ally of the speakeror senate president is assign to head the appropriation committee so thattheir food will be cooked and served secretly.
It is still fresh in our memory howJibrin demand five billion nairadamage compensation before FCT Federal High Court when Dr.Idris Ahmed suspected him of budget padding and illicit attempt to maneuver ourbudget and also egotistically cornered four billion naira to hisconstituency.
I would have attached more respect to Jibrin if he let the cat out of bagwhen the going was good. I would have celebrated him as my hero only if he had rejected the fraudulent attempt to pad the budget in the first place. Iwould have registeredmyself among the fans of Jibrin only if he had resignedfrom appropriation committee chair when budget padding was firstdiscovered.
In the final analysis, I am appealing to Nigerians to always shine theireyes and understand every situation before making judgement. Nigeriabelongs to all and sundry, nobody will ride over our money and disguise ashonourable, both Dogara and Jibrin were birds of the same feather who seenothing wrong in manipulating our budget and subjecting us to unnecessary hardships and confusion. #ISTANDWITHMYSELF…Thank you.
