Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has revealed how one of the newest members of his team, Orlando Pirates’ defender, Olisa Ndah was introduced to him by a football administrator.

Speaking during the press conference before the clash with Tunisia, Eguavoen said Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Honourable Boma Iyaye urged him to take a look at the player who was then with Akwa United.

“I was in Port Harcourt to watch a Rivers United game against a Sudanese club about two years ago. Hon Boma Iyayi told me about a center back in Akwa United that I should look out for him,” he said.

Eguavoen who was standing in as coach of the Super Eagles B (home-based) team was to take the team for an international friendly match with Mexico in United States of America and he included Ndah in his team.

“There was an opportunity for the team to go to US to play against Mexico last year but unfortunately, I couldn’t accompany the team but I was impressed with what I saw in him and when Leon Balogun said he was not sure of joining us for the Nations Cup, we had to extend the invitation to him,” he said.
