A suspected armed robber, Tersoo Joseph, who allegedly specialised in using a commercial motorcycle to rob unsuspecting passengers in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Tuesday confessed how he raped his female victim.

Joseph, who is also known as Adikpo, was paraded alongside 13 others for different criminal activities at the police headquarters in Makurdi.

He told journalists that at about 5am on February 9, he had conveyed a lady on his motorbike but instead of taking her to her destination, he robbed her around the Kwararafa quarters and also raped her in a gutter in the area.

“ It was me and one of my friend (at large) that raped her. It was the devil’s work,” he said.

But Demenenge Gabriel Iorwa, who was paraded as Joseph’s accomplice, said he knew nothing about the crime except that the suspect (Joseph) handed him a phone to sell which he sold for N20,000 and was afterward rewarded with N2,000.

The Commissioner of Police, Omololu Bishi, who paraded the suspects, said they would be charged to court.
