The kidnapped Chief Imam of Yangoji Central Mosque in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, Abdullahi Abubakar Gbedako, has revealed how he trekked for nine days with his sons when they were abducted.

City News had reported that the imam, who was abducted alongside his two sons, was set free last Friday after spending three weeks in captivity.

He was said to have been released after a N5m ransom.

Gbedako who is also the vice principal of GJSS, Kwaita, while narrating his experience with his abductors during an interview with our reporter at his residence in Yangoji, said it was horrible for him and his children.

He said the abductors first kept them in a forest for four days before ordering them to continue trekking for nine days to their main camp.

He said, “When we were about crossing a big river, a snake bit one of my sons, and I had to carry him on my back to cross the river. He managed to escape few days after we arrived their camp.

“They tied my legs with that of my son and blindfolded us during day time.

“I asked my family to sell my car, including that of my brother, as well as to obtain a loan of N1.5m, to pay the ransom.

“As I am talking to you right now, I don’t have any property on ground again, but I thank God for sparing my life and that of my sons.”
