The outgoing secretary of the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC), Bilkisu Bashir, has expressed her desire to bequest a judiciary where justice and fairness are the guiding principles.

Bashir stated this last week at the dinner in her honour by staff of the commission at the Supreme Court premises in Abuja.

“That is what I pray for, and not for the judges alone but also the supporting staff. They have to help achieve that dream,” she said.

She also spoke on the need for a civil service that is devoid of ethno-religious discrimination.

“I don’t believe in discrimination. I have never been discriminated against and I see no reason I should do so to others. You are a Nigerian and that is enough for me. I don’t care about the tribe you belong, ethnic or religious group, so far as you are a Nigerian, I am okay.

“And my staff have shown that they can work together. They have been united and I have never had any such issue in this office and I am extremely proud of them,” she added.

A friend of the celebrant during her days at the School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Mrs Bilkisu Kuchi, extolled her qualities and wished her well in her future endeavours.

The Director of Finance and Accounts of the FJSC, Mr Bassey E. Bassey, has assumed office as acting secretary.
