A divorcee, Amina Shu’aibu, has asked the Central Court 1 in Jos, Plateau State, to take her four children from her ex-husband, Idris Abdullahi, and give her on the ground that he does not feed them.
Amina and Idris had lived for 20 as husband and wife until recently when they divorced.
Amina told the court that she had evidence to back her claims, alleging that the defendant was planning to take the three male kids to “almajiranci”, which according to her, is an attempt to avoid his responsibility.
She said, “He took all the four children to his mother in Zaria, and the mother keeps calling me that the children should be taken back to me, but he refused. His mother often calls me that nobody is there to look after them. He told his mother that he would take them to almajiranci; which I don’t want.
“I want them to come back to me because there is no enough food for them to eat and nobody to keep an eye on them.”
The defendant denied the plaintiff’s claims.
When the Judge, Ghazali Adam, asked the defendant whether there was a way of settling the issue so that she could return to his house, the defendant said, “There is no room for that because I have divorced her three times.”
The judge then asked the two parties to bring their waliyai (guardians) and adjourned the case to February 24, 2022.
