The chairmanship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) for Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the 2019 FCT council election, Mrs. Vivian Anazodo, has said thugs held her hostage for over five hours for picking the ticket.

She said immediately she was declared winner of the chairmanship primaries held last Thursday in Abuja, thugs stopped her from moving out of the venue.

Anazodo, who spoke during an interview with our reporter last Friday in Abuja, said those  behind the act  felt aggrieved over her emergence as the chairmanship candidate, saying she would put in place a committee to reach out to all those that contested with her and lost out.

She said there was need for Nigerians to do away with the issue of ethnic sentiments in politics, saying she had lived in Abuja for over 35 and became chairman of AMAC in 1997.

She said if she became the chairman of AMAC in next year’s election she would build a unity government where everybody would be carried along irrespective of ethnic, political and religious affiliations.

The chairmanship candidate expressed confidence that she would emerge victorious during the forthcoming council elections, saying her achievements when she was one term chairman of the council 20 years ago, would give her victory at the polls.

“I don’t see incumbency as a threat to my victory come 2019, because what I did when I was AMAC chairman in 1997 will surely give me victory. But most importantly, I want to call on all our party members across AMAC to come together and unite to unseat the ruling APC in AMAC in 2019,” she said.
