Tayo, a 1.93m-tall model with a Higher National Diploma in Maritime Studies, certainly stood out in the show.
To win, Idris received five country votes, from Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda. The runner-up, Tayo, received two country votes from Nigeria and Mozambique.
Idris, the very reserved type everyone thought wasn’t strong enough in the contest won, much to the consternation of fans and Tayo himself. In fact Tayo declared at a press briefing in Lagos that he was shocked when IK announced  Idris as the winner and felt robbed of the crown.
The model with International Boss Models agency, grew up in Oyo town Nigeria but is currently based in South Africa.
“I can’t feel I was cheated again because of the love and support I have received but I think I was cheated,” he declared.
“I lived in the house and we knew our capabilities. From day one, I was the competition. Idris’s first days in the house showed he was confused and didn’t come with a focus. I know I was cheated. I felt cheated but that’s my opinion. But I have moved on. Being in the Big Brother House wasn’t easy. Some people had to be seeing physiologist but I didn’t. I have moved on and my life is beautiful,” he said.
“When we were at school, we all knew the best students in our classes. We knew those who were capable of high scores and those who were not.  I don’t want to brag but when Idris and I were left in the house, Idris was saying, “Why you, Tayo?” When we were on the stage and my highlights were shown, I was watching myself for the first time, I was laughing and felt entertained. Everyone in the studio that night was excited, but when they showed Idris’, there wasn’t that excitement. I also didn’t see any punch line from his outing,” he said.
On his future endeavours, he said, “I’m a very flexible person but TV is my home. I hope to be in the entertainment industry and I will be within the circle to give my best to the world.”
Tayo said he had no regrets and wouldn’t change a thing about his stay in the house.
“Looking back, I have no regrets. There was nothing I would have done differently. I did my best even though I made a few mistakes but there isn’t a perfect being.”
The all-singing, all-dancing 9th edition of Big Brother Africa kicked off on DStv on Sunday, October 5, as the 26 housemates showed off their talents to the continent – giving millions of viewers a glimpse into what makes them Hotshots.

The reality show which began with 26 housemates successfully came to an end on Sunday, 7 December 2014.
