For about ten years now. I came to Israel with a British minister who is doing a huge work in Ukraine and Pastor Tom Hess came and spoke about the House of Prayer for All Nations. I just knew in my heart I needed to find out more. Two months later after the programme ended I returned and I’ve been involved ever since. I spent some time in the house to have a feel of the community and praying together with the other nations and I became a worker in the convocation. That is why you find me here now.
In our earlier discussion, you said you have been to Nigeria. Can you tell us your experiences in Nigeria?
Are you sure you really want the answer? Nigeria has been my training ground. I have tasted the bitter one, hardest one and the fire and I came out with my life. It’s really a long testimony. Nigeria has been an experience the Lord put me through to mature me. I left and God used the Wailing Women for me to return victoriously years later. I experienced the principalities and powers, mischievous spirits and everything you can say are enemies in Nigeria.
Can you give us specific incidences or encounters you had in Nigeria?
Okay, I would just use a few examples like corruption, bewitchment etc. Remember, I’m a British woman who’ has not tasted any of this. I found the weather incredibly challenging, the humidity was something else. I’m not sure I want to talk about some of the things I tasted.
Please do talk about them. It will help somebody and also help we, Nigerians, focus on areas we need to change as a nation.
Okay, we have issues in every nation, but there are these spiritualist churches which you can be fooled by if you are not a mature Christian and eventually consumed. I thank God I went to Nigeria and came out with my life. God will not let us face more than we can bear. My name Brenda means sword or fire brand and Kelly is warrior. So, God used Nigeria to train me to become who I am.
Even though it was the most challenging and horrible experience of my ministry, I’m better off. I can discern people much better now, understand the various tribes. If you get good Nigerians you’ll value them. The experience didn’t put me off. There is an impartation God has put in the Nigerian race, if it’s used for good it is incredible and if for evil, it would be terrible and I see God wants to bring it out and refine it. I see Nigeria as the warring nation of Africa with a prophetic calling and destiny for its people. Unfortunately, Nigerians can be the wicked ones if they are not in righteousness. I preach righteousness and holiness whenever I have a gathering of people. So I tasted corruption at its worst, was duped and other nasty experiences. Really it was for my good because those of us from Britain are usually blinded about principalities and powers.
How did you come to know Christ?
I lived a very worldly life and started going to church after my husband left me. Things were just going down and I knew there was something better. All I had initially was mere religion; I went for a crusade and didn’t even know what an evangelist was. I ran in to a Billy Graham crusade and I had never experienced worship before, a whole stadium singing in one accord. The two other friends I went with also gave their lives to the Lord. Scales literarily came off my eyes and I saw my sinfulness. It was quite a powerful conversion.
What ministry are you into now?
I believe I’m an obedient servant. I do whatever the Lord tells me to do; I travel to nations. In the last 20 years I’ve travelled to nations about nine times a year. At the moment, He’s calling me back to my own nation. I started 24/7 prayer houses, a prophetic ministry for government leaders, all my activities however, have righteousness and repentance in common bringing people into victory. I would not just move into any nation unless I know that the Lord wants me to go.
From your own view point and not a ‘thus saith the Lord’, what do you see ahead for Nigeria?
Having been in and out of Nigeria, what I’m seeing is a lot of leaders dealing with occultism and all the areas that need to be dealt with. I can see a righteousness coming forth in the churches now, a new church being formed even though some are falling away. An army of God is being raised up and it’s all about righteousness, no compromise. God is dealing heavily with the church and there would be a falling away and the true church would rise out of Nigeria. I’m watching and there are some leaders raising young people with an uncompromising gospel.
Some people are still carrying the gods of their ancestors and trying to marry it with christianity and that is not possible. You have the issue of 419 which wasn’t addressed seriously before. It’s an international movement, like a mafia. ‘A serious wickedness and grievous deception and I thank God it is being addressed now. I came under that and I know God uses the hard experiences to train us. Hard grounds are usually where revival breaks out from and Nigeria is sort of under that category now.
What do you enjoy doing the most?
The Will of God. Whatever He has appointed for me to do at the appointed time. I enjoy myself immensely when I follow His leading. That’s a great place to be because it is safe.
What would be your most memorable event in Nigeria?
I have quite many but I’ll give you one. I was in Port- Harcourt and a number of people and circumstances around me :were challenging me especially the humid weather because of my skin.
This day was no exception and the humid weather was uncomfortable, making me feel like changing my clothes shortly after putting them on that night. I felt sorry for myself and began talking to my Father asking Him,” Lord what am I doing here, why did you bring me here?” I had a small mosquito net on my bed and as I lay down, I felt I saw something like a shadow with wings inside the net and the wings came over me and felt a very light touch like wind or a feather over my face and I went to sleep, it was awesome. I woke up with so much peace and the Spirit of God said to me that I was going to be on a bus and there would be revival. The bus was going from Port-Harcourt to Warri and a young man with a beautiful voice lifted up his voice to sing, then a girl preached but didn’t know when to stop.
As the Lord ministered to me, I tapped her and took over. Three people gave their lives to the Lord, two rededicated their lives and a Muslim man was in tears behind me. I told them that they were on the bus by divine orchestration and God convicted them. It was such an awesome experience as we all were hugging each other when we came off the bus. Some came to a program I was holding in Warri.
On a lighter note how did people respond to your skin colour?
Some people think you are the answer to all their problems that every ‘white’ person is rich. If I wanted to greet some children they would be frightened and run away, while some would be saying ‘oyinbo pepper.’
