Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State yesterday said he has the capacity to crush all his detractors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), adding that he will not leave his battle to God.

Wike, along with four of his colleagues; Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Samuel Ortom (Benue), have been protesting the selection of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the running mate of PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.

However, following the interventions by critical stakeholders of the party, the Wike camp had demanded the sack of the national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, a request the Atiku camp has rejected.

In the last one week, there has been a war of words between the two camps. Ayu last week said he would not step down while Wike insisted that he must go.

Speaking in Aba, Abia State during the inauguration of the Osisioma Flyover constructed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Wike said God has given him the wherewithal to crush his enemies in the party.

He said efforts by the camp of the presidential candidate to break their ranks would end in futility.

“God has given me what it takes for me to crush these people; for me to crush my enemies and you are telling me I should leave it for God. No. God has given me what it takes. God has so many things to do.

“Now that I know I have the capacity to flog these small boys and you want me to go and leave it for God. I am going to flog them pepper. Anybody who doesn’t understand that let him know that I am not going to wait at all.

“All those ones who are talking in my state calm down, when we start campaigning; we will know who is who,” he said.

Wike, while reacting to the quest of Atiku’s camp to infiltrate their ranks, he said; “If you like go and meet Ikpeazu, Seyi, Ortom, Ugwuanyi, you don’t even understand the modus operandi.

“These are not the people doing what you are seeing. We are using ourselves as if we are the people. We are not the people so you are making mistakes.”

According to Wike, the party had distributed positions, including the Senate presidency and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to individuals, hoping to win the 2023 polls.

Earlier, Ikpeazu said that the 2023 elections would be about legacies and competencies, not mere politicking and promises.
