The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has said that peace and security are what his administration cannot afford to compromise for whatever gains.
Ajiya, represented by the secretary of the council, Alhaji Kamal Adamu Shuaibu, stated this at a one-day programme on security awareness and the role of political and traditional institutions in the area council organised by the FCT National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Thursday.
He urged traditional rulers to embrace all their subjects irrespective of their religious, ethnic or political differences.
The chairman further advised the participants to imbibe the culture of tolerating and respecting one another, saying people of Abaji have always loved and embraced strangers in the area.
Also speaking, the FCT director of NOA, David Manya Dogo, said no society would develop when there was no peace and understanding among the people.
He called on the traditional rulers to always ensure that they are security conscious all around their domains.
City News reports that the programme ended with the erection of peace and security awareness billboard at Abaji/Kogi boundary, on the Abuja-Lokoja road.
