The deputy governor, Alli Olanusi, disclosed this while presiding over the state Joint Allocation Committee (JAC) meeting with the Care-taker Committee Chairmen from the 18 local government areas.
Olanusi said the shortfall in the allocation to the state from the federation account in recent times was not peculiar to the state alone but the whole federation. He believed that the situation would soon improve with the recent laid down of arms in the Niger-Delta by the militants and the gradual reduction of the global economic meltdown.
He advised the caretaker chairmen to use the fund judiciously in order to impact positively on the lives of the people at the grassroots level. While fielding questions from the newsmen shortly after the meeting, the Chairman, Caretaker Chairmen, Otunba Ade Adeniyi, said the state government had approved N4 million to each of the local government council in addition to the six million Naira approved recently for the payment of leave bonus to workers.
Adeniyi, who is also the Caretaker Chairman, Ondo West Local Council, urged his colleagues to make good use of the money while thanking the state government for the gesture.
