The Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has appeared before the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee overseeing the administration of the state under the state of emergency.

He appeared on Wednesday to defend the N1.481 trillion budget approved by the National Assembly.

On May 22, 2025, President Bola Tinubu had sent N1.481 trillion to the House of reps as the 2025 budget proposal for Rivers State.

It was considered, passed for Second Reading and referred to the Ad-Hoc Committee for further legislative action.

Speaking when he appeared before the committee, Ibas said he had earlier as requested prepared the budget and forwarded it to the President which was subsequently sent to the National Assembly and approved.

According to him, the budget was strategic as it factored key areas that funds would be allocated to make the needed impacts under the current circumstances and projections.

He, however, lamented that, at the time of the submission of the 2025 budget proposal, some officials of the suspended administration withheld information to adequately capture expenditure and other details.
