The management of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Niger State, has constituted a 9-man ad-hoc committee headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) Professor Samuel kolo Tswanyan, to investigate the alleged case of ill treatment and physical assault on a student by a lecturer.
The lecturer in the department of Mathematics, Abubakar Abdullahi Wachin, was said to have physically assaulted a 100 level student in his department during lecture period.
A statement signed by the Registrar of the institution, Mallam Samaila Muhammad, and made available to the students’ unions, said the university was aware of the incident and called on the parties involved to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation of the crisis as investigation was being carried out by the committee.
